Welcome to My Community Sport

'My Community Sport' is an innovative sports regeneration project based within 5 of the most disadvantaged communities in Nottingham City. The area we focus on are St Ann's & Sneinton. 'My Community Sport' works closely with a range of partners who all share a co-ordinated vision for the improvement of services for young people and their families.

Aim

To develop stronger, healthier and more vibrant communities through sport. We aim to raise sporting participation and improve wider outcomes for children, young people and their families.

How do we do it?

  • Establish & develop a number of new sports clubs and support existing ones
  • Attract National Governing Bodies to base satellite clubs within the 5 areas
  • Develop a bank of high quality coaches, volunteers and tutors by supporting them to lead local activities through sports training programmes
  • Work in partnership with private businesses, organisations and charities to raise funds
  • Encourage partners to be innovative with service delivery to support sport development

Key Achievements

  • Over 1200 local young people have taken part in 'My Community Sport' activities
  • Over 240 local Volunteers have been inducted into the programme
  • 8 New Clubs have been formed including Judo, Archery, Cheerleading & Table Tennis
  • Over £100,000 of additional funding has been raised for local projects

Nomination for Beyond Sport Corporate Award

Beyond Sport is an international award that helps to champion sports projects that tackle social change. The 'My Community Sport' partnership with Capital One has been extremely successful and has provided many opportunities for children and families to engage in sport, most of which may never have had the opportunity previously.

Capital One has been shortlisted as a potential winner of the Corporation of the year award due to its excellent partnership with St. Ann’s & Sneinton EIP, they continue to be an outstanding supporter of so many of the EIP sports projects and we hope that in September at the World Beyond Sport Summit in Chicago, they win this award.
